What Types of Fittings Do LED Lamps Have?
With traditional halogen and incandescent bulbs, we usually know what type of bulb and fitting we need. For LED lamps, it’s a bit different because they need to be replaced less frequently. LED lamps are generally available with standard fittings. Below is a list of the most common fittings:
- E27 Fitting: The most commonly used fitting. The large screw fitting E27 has a diameter of 27 millimeters.
- E14 Fitting: An alternative to the E27 fitting, often used for lamps with lower power.
- GU10 Fitting: Alongside the E27, the GU10 is a popular choice for lamps.
- GU4 and MR11 Fittings: Suitable for lamps requiring very small fittings.
How Do I Install an LED Lamp?
Installing an LED lamp is not a difficult task and can easily be done by anyone. To make the installation process as smooth as possible, we’ve created a step-by-step guide for you:
- Remove the old lamp, if applicable.
- Take your new LED lamp out of the packaging and check if a driver (power supply) is included.
- Connect the driver to your lamp.
- Use a screwdriver to secure your new LED lamp in the fitting.
- Connect the driver to the electrical circuit the lamp will be connected to.
- Turn on the power and test your new LED lamp.
